Rose’s Home

Rose McGee is a pillar in the community. Known for her story telling and ability to connect communities, Rose befriends most everyone she meets. She is the widow of former head of the Hennepin County Public Defender’s Office William McGeeRose has been in her home in Golden Valley, MN for nearly 20 years. However, after being laid off, she fell behind on her mortgage. She dutifully contacted her lender CitiMortgage and told them she was in need of a loan modification. CitiMortgage led her to believe they were going to adjust her mortgage. At the same time they told her they were processing her paperwork, they proceeded to foreclose on her. This process is commonly known as dual tracking.
Rose plans to stay in her home until CitiMortgage negotiates justly and offers her a fair modification of her loan.
Occupy Homes is standing with Rose in her efforts. She has already received support from other organizations fighting foreclosure, including Northside Community Redevelopment Coalition (NCRC) and Jewish Community Action. There have been several rallies of support as well as protests at CitiFinancial affiliates in the Twin Cities.
Please continue to monitor our site so that you can participate in actions to help Rose stay in her home. You can sign Rose’s petition here:

After reading above, I took the initiative and pulled the county title records related to your foreclosure. It seems to me there is at least one clear mistake in the way in which the foreclosure was pursued by CitiMortgage, which would invalidate the sheriff’s sale. We are currently litigating two other cases with CitiMortgage with almost the same facts and recently (Nov 7) argued in front of the MN Supreme Court to uphold a MN Court of Appeals decision invalidating a foreclosure sale under somewhat similar circumstances. If you still need representation, my office would be very interested in talking with you about a class action based on your claims. Please let me know if you are seeking representation,
