Occupy Homes MN would like to invite you to attend our first ever Housing Justice Academy! Oct 26-28th.
On October 26th and 27th, our Housing Justice Academy will bring together people from all over the region to train in home defense, vacant home reclamation, non-violent direct action, and more, and then on October 28th we'll use the skills we learned to take action together.
- Oct 26th 11am-7pm [[Training]]
- Oct 27th 1pm-7:30pm [[Training]]
- Oct 28th 11am [[Action]]
Occupy Our Homes is a movement that relies on supporter funding. While there is a small registration fee for attending the academy, no one will be turned away for lack of resources. Additionally, we will strive to assist those in need with lodging and transportation to Minneapolis, though we can not guarantee either.
The academy is open to anyone who wants to attend. There is a fee for registration ($50 for general, $20 for students, seniors, or anyone facing a housing crisis, free for low-income participants) which will cover the cost of the trainings, materials, and food for three days.
Over the last two years, Occupy Our Homes groups around the country have helped hundreds of families fight to stay in their homes- and win! In Minneapolis we've had dozens of victories from keeping families in their homes to passing the MN Homeowners Bill of Rights. We know that the only way to hold Wall Street accountable is to come together and organize--to create a world where people, not banks, have control over their communities.
If you have any questions or would like to help out with planning the academy (especially if you have space to host out of town guests) please contact us at: firstname.lastname@example.org.
